Samsung Foldables ‘Reimagined’ Around AI : What to Expect from Z Fold 7, Flip 7 & Flip 7 FE
Samsung is gearing up to unveil its next-generation foldable smartphones at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, and this year’s lineup comes with a major twist—artificial intelligence at the core. The company has officially stated that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE have been “reimagined around a new artificial intelligence-powered interface”, hinting at deep AI integration across features and user experience.
These new foldables are also expected to debut with Android 16-based One UI 8, which introduces AI-powered tools for photo editing, productivity enhancements, and smart briefings, alongside improved hardware specifications.
Galaxy Z Fold 7: AI-Powered Multitasking and Editing
According to details shared ahead of the launch, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will harness its large, unfolded display to offer a smarter, side-by-side photo editing interface through the Galaxy AI-powered Photo Assist tool. This feature will allow users to view original and edited versions simultaneously for easier comparison.
Additionally, the Now Brief feature will leverage the full display to deliver personalised daily briefings—including weather forecasts and Energy Score summaries—directly on-screen with minimal interaction.
For productivity, the Fold 7 will support dual-screen multitasking, enabling simultaneous use of a browser and Samsung Notes. A new Writing Assist tool will summarise web content and let users drag insights straight into their notes.
Security also gets an upgrade with Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), which creates app-specific encrypted zones to isolate personal data. If a device is compromised, Samsung’s Knox Matrix will automatically log it out of the Samsung Account, protecting other connected devices.
Galaxy Z Flip 7: FlexWindow Gets Smarter
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is set to feature a larger FlexWindow cover display, allowing users to access a broader range of features without unfolding the device. Real-time AI filters can be applied while taking selfies from the cover screen, and the AI-powered ProVisual Engine will enhance framing during photography.
This model also integrates a Personal Data Engine, ensuring on-device encryption for sensitive information, similar to the Fold 7.
Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: Streamlined AI on a Compact Display
While the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is expected to come with a smaller cover display than the standard Flip 7, it will still support core AI features. The Now Bar on the outer screen will offer quick access to controls like music, notifications, and more.
Despite its compact size, the Flip 7 FE will include the Now Brief feature, delivering real-time updates such as weather and Energy Score directly on the outer display—providing key information without opening the main screen.
Samsung’s bold push toward AI integration suggests a new era for foldables—one where productivity, creativity, and security converge on flexible form factors. All eyes now turn to July 9, when Samsung will officially reveal these AI-enhanced devices.
