Google Launches ‘AI Mode’ in Search for Indian Users: Features, Usage, and Everything You Need to Know

Google is rolling out AI Mode in Search for users in India after a successful trial in Labs. The feature aims to enhance user experience by providing AI-powered responses and deeper topic exploration, with no sign-up required.

Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai officially announced the launch, stating that the AI Mode is now available to all English-language users in India, with more languages to be supported in the future.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Pichai shared:
“After an incredible response in Labs, we’re starting to roll out AI Mode in Search to everyone in India (English to start). It’s a total reimagining of Search, and we’re excited for even more people to use it.”

What is AI Mode in Google Search?

AI Mode in Google Search is a new feature designed to provide a more intelligent, contextual search experience. It offers comprehensive responses, helpful links, and interactive follow-up capabilities.

Hema Budaraju, Vice President of Product Management at Google Search, explained the vision behind the rollout in a blog post titled ‘AI Mode in Google Search Rolling Out in India’.
She noted that the feature functions in “diverse ways,” allowing users to explore topics more thoroughly with easy follow-ups and additional resources.

“We’re excited to begin rolling out AI Mode to everyone in India, making it easier than ever to ask Google anything you’re curious about, get a helpful AI-powered response, and explore topics more deeply on the web,” Budaraju stated.

AI Mode Origin and User Feedback

Initially introduced in June as an experimental feature in Labs, AI Mode received “encouraging” feedback. Users praised its speed, accuracy, and the quality of AI-generated responses, using it for everything from learning in-depth topics to understanding complex instructions.
