Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder: Sonam and Raj Confess to Killing Raja Over Secret Affair

In a chilling revelation in the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, police have confirmed that Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwaha — the prime accused — have confessed to killing Sonam’s husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon trip. The duo also admitted to being in a secret relationship, according to East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Vivek Syiem.

The accused reportedly recreated the crime scene for investigators. “They have already admitted to the crime. We have done the reconstruction. They have shown us. We have got the evidence,” said SP Syiem, adding that there’s no need for a narco test, especially since such tests are banned by the Supreme Court.

Despite demands from Raja’s family for a narco analysis of Sonam, the police have ruled it out, stating that sufficient evidence has already been collected.

On June 21, a district and sessions court in Shillong remanded Sonam and Raj to 13 days of judicial custody.

So far, eight people have been arrested in connection with the murder, including Sonam and four others — Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha, and Anand.

The latest arrest came on June 23, when Lokendra Singh Tomar was taken into custody. He is accused of disposing of the murder weapon and a bag containing cash, as well as destroying key evidence, Meghalaya Police said.
