Apple iPhone 17 Series Launch: Expected India Price, Release Date, Design, Camera Upgrades & More
Apple is gearing up to unveil its much-anticipated iPhone 17 lineup in September 2025, with leaks suggesting the launch of four models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
iPhone 17 Series Launch Date (Expected)
Following Apple’s traditional launch schedule, the iPhone 17 series is expected to debut in the second week of September 2025, likely on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.
- iPhone 16: September 9, 2024 (Monday)
- iPhone 15: September 5, 2023 (Tuesday)
- iPhone 14: September 7, 2022 (Wednesday)
- iPhone 13: September 14, 2021 (Tuesday)
Pre-orders are expected to go live that same week on Friday, with retail availability starting the following Friday.
iPhone 17 India Price (Expected)
The entry-level iPhone 17 is expected to be priced at around Rs 89,900, slightly higher than the iPhone 16’s launch price of Rs 79,900.
However, uncertainty looms over potential price hikes due to trade tariffs introduced by former U.S. President Donald Trump, particularly a proposed 25% tariff on Apple for moving production to India instead of the U.S.
Design and Display Details
The biggest design shift is expected with the introduction of the iPhone 17 Air, which will reportedly replace the “Plus” variant.
- iPhone 17 Air: Around 5.5mm thick, lighter and slimmer
- Positioned between the standard and Pro models
- Aimed at balancing performance and portability
- May directly compete with Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge
Display sizes expected for the series:
- iPhone 17 – 6.1 inches
- iPhone 17 Pro – 6.3 inches
- iPhone 17 Pro Max – 6.9 inches
Notable upgrades may include enhanced scratch resistance and advanced anti-glare coating, as per analyst Jeff Pu.
Camera Upgrades
Apple is rumored to significantly boost camera performance across the lineup:
- Front Camera: Upgraded to 24MP (from 12MP in iPhone 16)
- iPhone 17 (Base model): Expected to feature a 48MP primary rear lens
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: May offer three 48MP sensors for wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto photography
Possibility of 8K video recording support in the Pro Max model
