Rain, Thunderstorms Expected in Delhi Today, Says IMD

Rain-Thunderstorms-Expected-in-Delhi-Today

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted light rain and thunderstorms in parts of Delhi on Monday, following a day of intense dust storms and inclement weather across the National Capital Region.

According to IMD’s latest weather bulletin issued around 2 PM, the national capital is likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by winds ranging between 40-50 kmph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 60 kmph. These conditions are expected to prevail for two to three hours in the evening.

The weather department further indicated that similar conditions are anticipated on Tuesday, including scattered rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds. This follows Sunday’s turbulent weather that impacted Delhi and surrounding areas such as Noida, Gurgaon, and Faridabad.

On Sunday evening, the capital experienced a heavy dust storm coupled with rainfall, which severely affected air traffic operations. A total of 14 flights were diverted, and approximately 350 were delayed at Indira Gandhi International Airport due to poor weather conditions.

As Delhi braces for more unstable weather, residents are advised to stay updated through official IMD alerts and take necessary precautions during strong wind or lightning episodes.
