Los Angeles Protest: Curfew Imposed Amid Rising Violence and Looting; Governor
Criticizes Trump’s Troop Deployment
In response to escalating violence and widespread looting during protests, Los Angeles
Mayor Karen Bass has imposed a curfew in the downtown area. The demonstrations,
sparked by President Donald Trump's aggressive immigration policies and federal
enforcement actions, have led to growing tensions across the city.
Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin reported that a crowd of around 400–500 protesters

appeared suddenly on the streets of Los Angeles, with no immediate LAPD presence
observed. During the unrest, an anti-police surveillance activist was reportedly shot at point-
blank range in the groin with a 40mm crowd-control round after persistently asking an LAPD
officer for their badge number.
On Tuesday night, Los Angeles police quickly enforced a downtown curfew, arresting
several protesters shortly after it took effect. Mounted officers and crowd-control munitions
were deployed to break up the demonstrations, which were held in response to President
Donald Trump’s aggressive immigration policies.
Though the National Guard was stationed nearby, it did not participate in any arrests.
Authorities stated the curfew was implemented to help prevent looting and vandalism. While
the majority of the crowd eventually dispersed, smaller clashes continued late into the night.
