Punjab – In a significant breakthrough in an ongoing investigation into a Pakistan-linked espionage network, Punjab Police revealed that YouTuber Jasbir Singh attempted to delete his digital communication trails following the arrest of Haryana-based influencer Jyoti Malhotra.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated on Wednesday that Jasbir Singh, a resident of Mahlan village in Rupnagar district, operated the YouTube channel ‘Jaan Mahal’ and was in touch with foreign handlers, including a Pakistani Intelligence Operative (PIO).

“Jasbir Singh has been found associated with PIO Shakir, also known as Jutt Randhawa, who is part of a terror-backed espionage network,” the DGP said in a post on X (formerly Twitter). The YouTuber also maintained communication with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a Pakistani national who was recently expelled from the Pakistan High Commission in India for alleged espionage.

According to police, Jasbir tried to erase digital evidence of his contacts after the arrest of Jyoti Malhotra, a 33-year-old YouTuber from Hisar who runs the channel ‘Travel with JO’. Malhotra was arrested last month on similar charges.

Investigations further revealed that Jasbir Singh attended the Pakistan National Day celebration in Delhi on Danish’s invitation, where he reportedly met Pakistani Army officers and vloggers. He also visited Pakistan three times – in 2020, 2021, and 2024. Forensic teams are now analyzing his electronic devices, which contain multiple Pakistan-based contact numbers.

An FIR has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell in Mohali, and a comprehensive probe is underway to uncover the extent of the espionage-terror network and identify other individuals involved.

This crackdown follows recent national security concerns, including the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives, and the four-day military standoff with Pakistan.
