New Delhi: As of June 2, India recorded 3,961 active COVID-19 cases, with the cumulative death toll rising to 32 since January 2025, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW). The latest update shows 203 fresh infections were added on June 1, and four new deaths were reported across the country.

State-wise COVID-19 Snapshot
The latest figures reveal rising numbers across several states:

  • Delhi: 47 new infections; active cases now at 483.
  • Kerala: 35 new cases; active cases climb to 1,435.
  • Maharashtra: 21 new cases; active count reaches 506.
  • West Bengal: 44 new cases; current active cases stand at 331.
  • Reported Deaths: Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Kerala each reported one COVID-19 fatality since June 1.

Centre Assures Readiness
Union Minister of State for Health and AYUSH (Independent Charge), Prataprao Jadhav, affirmed on May 30 that the Centre remains vigilant and prepared to respond to the evolving situation.
“Our ministries are on alert and have coordinated with state-level officials to ensure preparedness. Infrastructure such as oxygen plants and ICU beds developed during earlier waves has been reviewed,” he stated.

Karnataka Health Advisory for Schools
In response to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the Karnataka Health Department has issued a directive to both government and private schools.
Key guidelines include:

  • Students showing symptoms like fever, cough, or cold should remain at home.
  • Medical advice and prescribed care must be strictly followed by affected students.
