Live Translation, Visual Intelligence, Genmoji, and smarter automation tools to transform Apple ecosystem with on-device AI capabilities.

Apple unveiled its next leap in AI-powered user experiences at WWDC25, introducing Apple Intelligence—a suite of smart, privacy-focused features set to arrive on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch later this year. Built on Apple’s on-device AI models, these enhancements span communication, productivity, creativity, and automation.

Key Apple Intelligence Features Coming Later This Year

Live Translation Across Apps
Live Translation enables multilingual communication across Messages, FaceTime, and Phone. Powered by Apple-built models that run entirely on-device:

  • In Messages, texts are translated as the user types.
  • On FaceTime, users see live translated captions alongside the original voice.
  • During phone calls, spoken translations are read aloud in real time.

Smarter Shortcuts
Shortcuts are becoming more intelligent:

  • Users can automate context-aware tasks like summarising documents or creating images based on a chat.
  • Shortcuts can use Apple’s on-device model or route to ChatGPT, depending on user preference.

 Genmoji: Personalized Emoji Creation
With iOS 26, users can:

  • Generate emojis from text prompts.
  • Combine emojis and text to create custom Genmoji.
  • Personalise expressions and features like hairstyle, emotion, and accessories.

Image Playground: AI-Generated Art
Users can experiment with creative styles powered by ChatGPT:

  • Create visuals in oil painting, vector art, and more.
  • Pictures and descriptions are only sent to ChatGPT when user approval is given.

Visual Intelligence: Smarter Screen Awareness
Visual Intelligence in iOS 26 makes devices understand and act on on-screen content:

  • Ask ChatGPT about what’s on screen or find similar products via Google, Etsy, and others.
  • Highlight specific objects for direct product search.
  • Automatically create calendar entries from event details with autofilled time, date, and location.
  • Access Visual Intelligence using the screenshot button combo.

Apple Watch: On-Device Intelligence for Fitness
Workout Buddy leverages on-device models to deliver personalized, spoken fitness insights based on data like:

  • Heart rate
  • Pace
  • Recent milestones

More Features

  • Reminders now automatically extract to-dos from emails, websites, or notes.
  • Apple Wallet detects and summarizes order-tracking details from emails.
  • Messages introduces polls, and Apple Intelligence can suggest one based on conversation context.

 Rollout & Supported Devices
Apple has started rolling out Apple Intelligence features to developers via the latest beta builds of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, and watchOS 26. A public beta will be available next month.

Devices eligible to receive these features later in 2025 include:

  • iPhone 16 series
  • iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
  • iPad mini with A17 Pro
  • iPads with M1 chip or later

Macs with M1 chip or later
