Ambani and Adani Announce Mega Investments Worth ₹1.25 Lakh Crore in Northeast India

In a landmark development for Northeast India, industrial giants Reliance Industries and the Adani Group have pledged a combined investment of ₹1.25 lakh crore, marking a significant push to catalyze growth and infrastructure in the region. The announcement was made at the Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025.

Reliance to Double Investment to ₹75,000 Crore

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced that the company will more than double its current investment in the Northeast to ₹75,000 crore. Having already invested ₹30,000 crore over four decades, Reliance plans to amplify its impact with six key development commitments.

Ambani emphasized that the region has the potential to replicate the economic trajectory of nations like Singapore. “When talent meets technology and competence meets connectivity, our Northeast will surge ahead,” he noted.

• Digital Connectivity: Expanding Jio’s 5G footprint to double the current 5 million subscribers and covering the remaining 10% of the region’s population.
  
• Education & AI: Leveraging Artificial Intelligence in schools, hospitals, and businesses across the Northeast.
  
• Retail & Agriculture: Scaling up procurement of local produce and establishing FMCG manufacturing units.
  
• Clean Energy: Installing 350 integrated compressed biogas plants and enhancing solar power output.
  
• Healthcare: Launching a 150-bed cancer hospital in Manipur, breast cancer research initiatives with Mizoram University, and a state-of-the-art genome lab in Guwahati.
  
• Sports Development: Collaborating with all eight northeastern states to set up Olympic Training Centres.
  

Adani Commits ₹50,000 Crore to Northeast Push

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, also pledged a fresh investment of ₹50,000 crore over the next decade. This commitment is in addition to a ₹50,000 crore investment previously announced for Assam in February.

Describing the Northeast as a land of “resilience and untapped potential,” Adani praised the Central Government’s Act East vision. “Prime Minister, when you say ‘Act East, Act Fast, Act First,’ you gave the Northeast a wake-up call,” he remarked.
