According to Meghalaya Police, Sonam handed ₹15,000 to the killers during the crime —
money that was reportedly taken directly from her husband's wallet while he was being
murdered. The initial payment was reportedly part of the larger promised amount of ₹20
lakh, which was to be paid upon completion of the crime.
Raj Kushwaha says he changed his mind and didn’t want to support Sonam, so he cancelled
his trip to Meghalaya at the last moment. He also told the other three not to go, but they still
went because Sonam had already booked the tickets. Even then, the three reportedly

refused to carry out the murder, but Sonam insisted and offered ₹15 lakh. Police are now
checking if this is true, according to a senior Indore officer working with Meghalaya police.
When financial greed or emotional selfishness replaces human compassion, it becomes
easy to forget that the victim is a person, not a problem to be solved or a burden to
eliminate.
