Target has announced a key update for Nintendo fans who missed out on pre-ordering the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console. While the device officially launches on June 5, Target will begin offering online purchases of the console on its website and mobile app starting June 6. Customers will be limited to one console per order, and availability will depend on stock.
The highly anticipated console has seen unprecedented demand since pre-orders opened on April 24. Major retailers including Best Buy and Walmart experienced technical issues due to the overwhelming volume of buyers. Many fans encountered website crashes and errors that prevented successful pre-order transactions. With some pre-orders now being canceled just days before release, Target’s online sales provide a promising alternative for those still hoping to secure a unit.

Target aims to enhance the launch experience with special in-store Nintendo sections, exclusive deals, and promotional giveaways. From June 5 through June 7, the retailer will offer limited-time discounts on various Nintendo-related products, both online and in physical locations. Accessories such as the new GameChat camera will be part of the lineup.
A key highlight of the Switch 2 launch is its bundled edition featuring the new title Mario Kart World. The bundle, priced $50 above the standard version, is expected to be in high demand. Other launch titles include heavy-hitters like Split Fiction, Cyberpunk 2077, and Street Fighter 6—games previously unavailable on the original Switch.
New accessories will also debut alongside the console, including an additional set of Joy-Cons retailing at $94.99 and a Pro Controller priced at $84.99.
With a strong lineup and growing anticipation, Target’s post-launch sales initiative may be one of the best chances for eager fans to join the next generation of Nintendo gaming.
